Karate No MIchi Shotokan open its doors in 1998 as part of a long time dream
of its owner and head instructor Sensei Ruth Junen. Sensei Junen has been involved
in Martial Arts for over 30 years. At the age of 8 years old, Sensei Junens mother
Maria Estevez enrolled her in Karate School so that she could learn self defense and
build self esteem. Sensei Junen continued taking lessons faithfully, and at the age
of 16 years old she started teaching at Shotokan Karate Dojo in Passaic New Jersey.
During that period of time she also competed nationally and was also selected to
represent the United States Karate Team. After winning the world cup, ahe decided that
it was time to open her own school in Passaic. |
